Benefits of Membership

Here’s an overview of the virtual programming you will have access to upon joining (events are held on Zoom):

Twice-monthly Community Calls—gatherings that (1) take the form of a deep dive conversation on one call a month and (2) take the form of a skillshare, speed connecting event, party, or community meeting during the other call of the month. Here’s a breakdown of each event type:👇🏽

  • Deep Dive Conversations occur once a month, are related to our theme of the month, and are meant to be highly expansive and exploratory. Conversations are structured to give every member opportunities to speak and forge meaningful connections with peers, utilizing breakout groups as needed. Sample themes include careers and callings; learning and education; purpose and existential quandaries; and love and social relationships. 🌀

  • Skillshares are interactive events where we’ll have a chance to share the precise tools, workflows, and embodied skills that have been game changers for us and learn the same from our peers. Sample topics include self-directed learning and research; solo visioning and goal setting; biohacking the gifted bodymind; and self-care. 🛠️

  • Parties are opportunities to hang out, have fun, and celebrate with one another with games, costume contests, and other brilliant nonsense. Loved ones who are non-members (e.g., children and partners) are welcome to join! 👻 🎅🏽 🎄

  • Community Meetings occur at least twice a year and bring members together to assess what has been working for them in the community and dream up future possibilities. 🌈

24/7 access to members-only virtual spaces for (asynchronous) chat, exploration, resource sharing, and fun with gifted Black peers from all over the world 🌎

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This community membership does not offer psychotherapy, though the lead facilitator (Kaitlin) does draw upon training in psychotherapy as well as continuing education in various complementary psychological paradigms. This online community is instead focused facilitating social connection and relationship building.

Please note that the design of this community is not conducive to delivering the type of support that a person in crisis needs most. If you're going through this, you're encouraged to connect with a mental health professional (here is a great resource for this) to address any acute challenges that you may be facing.

  • Great question! Check out our Community Values + Agreements for more on this.

  • This is an important, nuanced matter and you're not alone in asking this question! Some places to start are taking our "Wait, Could I Be Gifted?" Quiz and exploring our free, 40-page guide, Tasting the Gifted Rainbow.

  • This online community serves Black-identified participants exclusively, though we are considering introducing offerings that serve other groups of people. Individuals who identify as both Black and multiracial/mixed-race are welcome to participate now.

If you are not Black but interested in engaging with Our Wild Minds in the future, please let us know by filling out this form. Please also get in touch if you (or someone in your network) might be a good partner to us as we strive to build our capacity in these other areas.

  • This matter is much more complex than it may appear on the surface, particularly to individuals who do not have the lived experience of being Black or a person of color. Learn more about this by checking our our blog post (Young) Gifted and Black Revisited: Why Black Giftedness Matters Despite its Complex History and, for a deeper dive, check out our free 40-page guide, Tasting the Gifted Rainbow.
